Plug & Play, Gurugram — the activity corner.

The brief

Care that doesn't feel clinical.

The brief combined medical seriousness with a child-centric atmosphere — a harder balance than cheerful graphics alone can solve. The clinic had to support the developmental journey of toddlers, children, and adolescents through a space that feels warm, playful, and confidence-building rather than clinical.

Play is built into the programme, not layered on top: an activity corner with bunny-ear chairs and a paper-roll drawing station, perforated timber panels, curvaceous furniture, and tactile surfaces at child height. Emotional reassurance is treated as part of the spatial programme, so a visit feels shorter and lighter for children — and calmer for the parents with them.

The clinic was photographed in late 2023 and covered by India Design World in July 2024 for its whimsical patterns and tactile take on paediatric care interiors.

01 / Programme

Play inside the clinic.

Activity corners, drawing stations, and child-scaled furniture sit inside the care journey, giving children something to do instead of something to fear.

02 / Material

Tactile and soft-edged.

Perforated timber, curved forms, and touchable surfaces replace the hard, glossy language of a typical clinic.

03 / Feeling

Reassurance as a design brief.

Warmth and whimsy are planned, not decorative — the space is tuned to lower stress for children and build trust with families.
